This paper examines disparities in bargaining power among minority groups in the Italian labour market, focusing particularly on immigrants and women. We use compensation days after an accident at work as a key indicator, using open administrative data sourced from the Istituto Nazionale Assicurazione contro gli Infortuni sul Lavoro (the Italian national institute for insurance against accidents at work). Bivariate probability models were implemented in the first stage, followed by sample correction for regression and unconditional quantile regression with fixed effects. The main findings of the empirical investigation reveal that being a non-EU citizen has a negative and highly significant impact on the number of recovery days enjoyed, indicating weaker bargaining power. Additionally, women experience longer recovery times compared to men.
