SIS 2023 - Statistical Learning, Sustainability and Impact Evaluation
(Italy)
June 21, 2023 - June 23, 2023
Italian Statistical Society (SIS) promotes every two years an international specialized statistical conference. The meeting focuses on both methodological and applied statistical research.
The Italian Statistical Society was founded in 1939. Today, it consists of about one thousand members from Universities and public or private organizations, including scholars in statistical methodology, probability, economic and social statistics, demography.
SIS organizes two biennial scientific meetings - a general conference covering all the statistical topics and a specialized conference on more focused topics. The society publishes an International Journal (SMA) and two on-line magazines.
The new challenges of digitalization, innovation and sustainability are showing the crucial role of data-driven approaches in supporting decision-making processes. Methodologies resulting from the integration of different know-how seem to be a reliable way to deal with the increasing need to measure the impact of the policies and to forecast scenarios. This meeting welcomes any attempt to face new challenges.

Practical information for authors of invited sessions
Papers in the 'invited sessions' will be presented first as a 20-minute presentation.
Please use a
PDF file for your presentation and standard fonts. The PDF files will be uploaded to the computer before the start of the session.
For each invited session, there will be a chair who will introduce the talks with a
5-minute presentation at the start of the session. A discussant will then stimulate and coordinate a
15-minute debate at the end of all the talks.
There will be
10 minutes allocated for audience questions and authors' replies.
Practical information for authors of contributed sessions
Papers in the "contributed sessions" will be presented first as a
5-minute presentation (a speedy-talk, during which you may present framework, key-ideas, main results and their meaning/implication). Please use a PDF file for your presentation and standard fonts. The PDF files will be uploaded to the computer before the start of the session.
For a better organization of the presentations, we suggest you to organize your presentation in 6-7 slides according to the following outline:
- Title and authors' affiliations
- The framework
- Description of the research problem
- Methodology and main results
- Conclusions
- Main references
For each contributed session there will be a discussant who will stimulate and coordinate a
30-minute debate at the end of all speedy talks. The discussion will continue at the "exhibition corner for contributed sessions" after the presentations during the coffee-break following the session.
To this end, we strongly recommend authors to prepare also a poster in A1 format, which measures 59.4 x 84.1 cm (23 x 33 inches) in portrait orientation.
If an A1 poster is not possible, up to eight A4 sheets can be used instead.
There are 10 available corners for displaying posters, with a maximum of 4 posters per corner (two on each side).
Poster should be fixed the before the beginning of session and removed immediately after lunch (for morning presentation) or at the end of the day (for afternoon presentation).
The Faculty offers an external printing service at the "Centro Copie Economia Univpm-Ancona", which can print A4 and A3 size PDF documents.
The cost for an A4 black and white copy is € 0.04, while a color copy costs € 0.40. The price for an A3 black and white copy is €0.08 and € 0.80 for a color copy.
